Army aviation crews on Ka-52M helicopters, being part of a mixed tactical group, disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 22.

It is noted that the helicopters were assisted by ground troops in carrying out the combat mission. The pilots of the army aviation performed missile launches according to the coordinates of the aviation gunner and destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU. The destruction of the target was confirmed by the advanced aviation spotter.

"After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with the firing of heat traps preventing enemy MANPADS missiles from hitting the target," the Defense Ministry added.

Earlier, on December 22, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) destroyed an AFU armored combat vehicle ( ACV ) by FPV drone in the border area of Kursk Region. Servicemen of the unit of the "North" group of troops detected the enemy combat vehicle near a populated area in the region. The detected target was promptly destroyed.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
