The launch of the new highway A-289 will reduce travel time from Krasnodar to the Crimean bridge three times, to two hours. This was announced on Sunday, December 22, by the Governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev.

"Today we open a new highway with the official name A-289. This highway will connect Krasnodar with the Crimean bridge. <...> Previously, you had to go to the Crimean Bridge through Krasnodar, and this road not just [goes] to bypass Krasnodar, it also bypasses almost all the settlements. In terms of time, it used to take six hours to get from Krasnodar to the Crimean bridge, and even longer in the season, but now it takes two hours," he said via video link to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who took part in the road launch ceremony.

Kondratyev noted that the expressway was built in a record two years. At the same time, the creation of new roads in the region solves the important problem of traffic congestion, the governor pointed out.

Earlier in the day, Putin called the opening of new air and road infrastructure in the regions evidence of the continuous development of the country's transportation framework. At the same time, he pointed to the good pace of development of Russia's road network and key highways.

On Sunday, the head of state is taking part in a video link in the ceremony of the start of traffic on the A-289 Krasnodar - Slavyansk-on-Kuban - Temryuk - A-290 Novorossiysk - Kerch highway.

Bypasses of the village of Malye Vyazemy on the Central Ring Road in the Moscow region, Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny and five settlements in Bashkiria are also being put into operation. In addition, Putin took part in the opening of international airports in Magadan (Sokol), Cheboksary and Stavropol (Shpakovskoye).
