Putin announced the modernization of 75 airports in the next six years

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday, December 22, that at least 75 airports will be modernized in the country over the next six years and 250 billion rubles will be allocated for this purpose.

"The government has already been set specific tasks: to modernize the infrastructure of at least 75 airports in six years. This is more than a third of the airport network in Russia. We will allocate at least 250 billion rubles for this purpose. It's a lot of money. This is direct budget financing," he said at the opening ceremony of air and road infrastructure facilities in the regions.

The Russian leader pointed out that three new terminals were opened at the airports of Stavropol, Magadan and Cheboksary, emphasizing that this is one of the important steps in the development of aviation infrastructure. He also noted that it is worth increasing direct air service between the regions.

The head of state said that Russia will also continue the qualitative renovation of roads. Putin added that more than 150,000 kilometers of roads have been built and repaired in the country over the past six years.

"A lot has been done in the sphere of road construction in recent years. For example, over the six years of the national project "Safe Quality Roads" more than 150 thousand kilometers of roads have been built and repaired," the president said.

He said that by the end of 2024, 85% of roads in large urban agglomerations will meet regulatory requirements, calling it a good result.

Earlier, on December 5, Vyacheslav Petushenko, chairman of the board of state company Avtodor, told Izvestia that more than 2,000 km of highways had been rehabilitated in new Russian regions since 2022. He also noted that more than 700 kilometers of roads are planned to be restored in new Russian regions in 2025. In addition, 15 bridges will be restored.

Before that, on November 20, the governor of the Tyumen region Alexander Moore said that more than 250 km of regional and municipal roads were repaired during the year in the region. Two bridges over the Tura and Vagai rivers and two overpasses on the bypass road in Tyumen were repaired.
