The General Prosecutor's Office of Abkhazia opened a criminal case against MP Adgur Kharazia, who organized a shooting in the parliament of the country. As the press service of the agency reported on December 22, the people's elected official is suspected of murder and attempted murder.
"Based on the conclusion of three judges of the Supreme Court and the consent of the People's Assembly-Parliament, a criminal case has been initiated against Kharazia Adgur Rafetovich," the agency said on its website.
The case was initiated under paragraph "e" of part 2 of article 99 and part 3 of article 29 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Abkhazia ("Murder in a generally dangerous way and attempted murder in a generally dangerous way").
Operational measures are currently being carried out to establish the whereabouts of Kharazia, who managed to escape. The Prosecutor's Office has also asked Parliament to lift his immunity.
