Russia has been conducting a special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas since February 24, 2022. Units of the Center group of forces liberated the settlement of Krasnoye in the Donetsk People's Republic and also repelled 11 counterattacks by the AFU. The Ukrainian side lost up to 480 military personnel.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military also launched a group strike on the infrastructure of military airfields, workshops for the production of attack drones, places of their storage and preparation for launch, as well as accumulations of Ukrainian armed formations and mercenaries of the "Foreign Legion" in 138 areas.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 650 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 38,341 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 19,952 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,504 multiple rocket launchers, 19,932 field artillery and mortar guns and 29,427 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
