Russian trucker found murdered in Iran

The body of a trucker from Dagestan with gunshot wounds was found in Iran a few days ago, the Russian Embassy in Tehran reported on December 22.

According to the diplomatic mission, the driver was found on December 16 in a park near the city of Astara in the northwest of the country.

"Iranian authorities are currently investigating the case, which is under tight control of the Russian Consulate General in Resht and the Russian Embassy in Iran," the embassy's press service told RIA Novosti.

The diplomats expressed condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased and called on the Iranian side "for an urgent and thorough investigation, punishment of those responsible and bringing order at the Astara border checkpoint."

In early October, a 60-year-old trucker from Ussuriysk suffered a brain hemorrhage at a checkpoint in China. The man was discovered by border guard officers and hospitalized in serious condition.
