The Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Lozovaya and Krasnoye

Units of the West military group have liberated the Lozovaya settlement in Kharkiv Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 22.

In turn, the units of the Center group of forces liberated the village of Krasnoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) due to successful offensive actions.

The military of the Western Group of Forces also repelled six counterattacks by the enemy's assault units. In addition, the living forces and equipment of two mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and two brigades of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry were hit in the areas of the settlements of Petropavlovka, Glushkovka, Dvurechnaya, Zagryzovo in the Kharkiv region, and Yampolovka and Terny in the DNR. The losses of the Ukrainian side amounted to more than 480 military personnel.

Before that, on December 21, units of the Southern Group of Russian troops liberated the settlement of Ostrovsky in the DNR as a result of decisive actions. A day earlier, on December 20, the Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Uspenovka and Novopustynka in the DNR. The ministry said in a statement that Uspenovka was liberated as a result of the actions of units of the South group, while the Center liberated Novopustynka. During the week, 59 Ukrainian militants surrendered to captivity at the line of contact.

On December 19, it also became known about the liberation of the settlements of Zelenovka and Novy Komar in the DNR by the Russian Armed Forces. It is noted that they were liberated by units of the Vostok group.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
