Trump nominated entrepreneur Fertitta to be U.S. ambassador to Italy


Billionaire restaurateur Tilman Fertitta is appointed to the post of US Ambassador to Italy. This was announced on December 22 by American President-elect Donald Trump on his page in the social network Truth Social.
"I am pleased to announce that Tilman Fertitta has been named United States Ambassador to Italy," Trump said in the post.
He spoke about Fertitta's achievements in the restaurant business and noted his years of philanthropic work. Trump specified that the billionaire is also a longtime chairman of the University of Houston Board of Regents.
Earlier, on December 21, Trump announced that television producer Mark Barnett had been appointed as the new US special envoy to the UK. He specified that Barnett will be engaged in strengthening diplomatic relations between the UK and the US, as well as improve trade and investment opportunities between the countries.
Prior to that, on December 15, it was reported that Trump appointed former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Allen Grenell as the head of state's envoy for special assignments.
On December 10, Donald Trump nominated Andrew Ferguson to head the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Politico reported that Ferguson could assume the role of chairman immediately after Trump's inauguration, as he is already a member of the trade commission.
The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on Nov. 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4% of the vote. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
