Some New Year's habits can negatively affect the skin, there is a high probability of redness, flakiness and rashes. Cosmetologist, dermatologist, founder of the cosmetology center Nate Bloom Natalia Kochkina told "Gazeta.Ru" on December 22, what habits lead to such consequences.

One of such habits, said the expert, is the New Year's Eve race. Many in the last days before the holidays try to complete all work and personal affairs as soon as possible, and this mode of increased work capacity often leads to the production of cortisol, the stress hormone.

"At the same time, high levels of cortisol negatively affect not only the general condition, but also the appearance. Namely, it accelerates the breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin and promotes the appearance of rashes," Kochkina explained.

The second reason the doctor called the lack of proper skin care during the festive pre-New Year's rush, because of it often make indulgences or forget about the usual care. As the expert noted, in the winter period it is especially important to take care of the skin regularly and take good care of it.

Poor quality sleep also affects the condition of the skin. During sleep, Kochkina explained, regenerative and metabolic processes are triggered, as well as hormones are produced, which affect the quality of the skin. Therefore, in case of lack of sleep, the skin does not have time to recover, as a result of which it reacts more sensitively to external factors.

"And because detoxification processes are not triggered, slags and toxins accumulate in the soft tissues. Lack of sleep as well as stress increases cortisol levels. The skin loses elasticity, bags under the eyes appear, the complexion fades, nasolabial folds and fine lines become more clearly visible," - said the doctor.

The fourth reason is meals and snacks containing large amounts of salt, refined carbohydrates and flavor enhancers. These include some types of cheese, sausages, pickles, canned goods, salted fish, sauces, sodas and alcohol. If you overdo the amount of the above foods, you may experience swelling and rashes on the skin, and in the case of alcohol, dry skin.

The expert explained that alcoholic beverages increase capillary permeability and damage blood vessels, which causes water to leave the skin, but it is retained in the subcutaneous tissue. In addition, alcohol in large quantities can cause the appearance of couperosis and enlarged pores.

Lack of physical activity also negatively affects the skin, since skin moisturization and oxygenation occur through blood circulation.

"When a person doesn't move much, blood circulation and lymph flow deteriorate. The skin begins to belatedly receive nutrients and becomes dull. Low activity also affects its tone. The result is sagging, puffiness, creases and wrinkles," summarized the doctor.

Earlier, December 18, dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist of the network of clinics "Semeynaya" Irina Marchenko told "Izvestia" about serious mistakes in face care in winter. So, one of the common mistakes is the use of scrubs on already dried skin. Although such care visually reduces the number of dry scales, in the absence of systematic and intensive moisturizing, the skin reacts to the scrub as an aggressive influence, which, in turn, aggravates keratinization and flaking, creating a vicious circle.
