In the morning of December 21, eight drones were released on the territory of Kazan. The press service of the city mayor's office said that the attack resulted in fire in houses in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts. The arrival of UAVs in the residential complex "Azure Skies" was recorded on video.

Later in a video message, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, said that of the eight drones that attacked the capital of the republic, three were aimed at defense-industrial complex facilities, while the rest of the strikes hit residential buildings. Some of the Ukrainian drones that attacked Kazan failed to detonate explosives, and work is underway to eliminate them.

In Tatarstan, the authorities and special services have introduced an emergency situation mode (ES) after the drone attack on Kazan to promptly eliminate the consequences. All mass events were canceled in the city. Hospitals in the capital of the republic were put on high alert.
