The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the feats of Russian fighters in the special operation zone

On December 22, the Russian Defense Ministry described the exploits of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).

The ministry said that Private Vitaly Allakhverdiyev was patrolling the defensive positions of Russian troops as part of a combat patrol and detected the covert movement of a sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the direction of the Russian troops' positions.

Allakhverdiyev then informed the command about the detection of the enemy via radio communication, after which he was one of the first to engage the enemy DRG. The serviceman personally destroyed several saboteurs by aiming fire. The Ukrainian militants suffered significant losses and retreated.

The Defense Ministry also drew attention to the merits of Staff Sergeant Grigory Bokov, who ensured a continuous supply of ammunition to the advancing assault groups. It is reported that for several days the serviceman continuously delivered ammunition directly to the advancing units, which ensured uninterrupted supply and a high rate of offensive operations of the Russian Armed Forces (AF).

In addition, under fire, Staff Sergeant Bokov transported the wounded to the rear and returned again with ammunition. On one of the flights, the vehicle driven by the serviceman was attacked by AFU FPV drones. Bokov, making counter-drone maneuvers at high speed and using the terrain, prevented the destruction of the vehicle with ammunition.

Earlier, on December 21, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of the Southern Group of Russian troops had liberated the settlement of Ostrovsky in the DNR as a result of decisive actions. In addition, the enemy lost up to 285 servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, two vehicles, a 122-millimeter D-30 howitzer, a 105-millimeter American M119 howitzer and five field depots with ammunition.

Also on this day it became known that servicemen of the ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun of the "West" group of forces destroyed reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the AFU. During the firing operation, the unit destroyed reconnaissance drones of Ukrainian militants "Furia" and "Leleka-100".

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
