Residents of the city of Magdeburg in Germany, where the terrorist attack at the Christmas fair took place, criticized the policy of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the country's government in a conversation with Izvestia.

According to the German citizen, there are no polls in Germany and no possibility to hold referendums at the federal level to stop Scholz or the dictatorship in the country.

"The Basic Law is not a constitution, although it is considered as such. The Basic Law is not even used by the police. Politicians can do whatever they want to us in Germany," said a resident of Germany.

Another German resident said that everything in the country is heading towards dictatorship.

"Politicians do whatever they want. If you insult politicians, they will kick your door in at 6 a.m. and search your house. Everything is going in a very bad direction, towards dictatorship," she said and added that all German politicians have blood on their hands.

Locals added that what is happening in Germany is sad. According to them, things are so bad that small children are dying.

"Yes, Germany is finished because of the [bad] policies of this criminal government, and I hope they will all be held accountable someday," notes one FRG resident.

Germans also reported a desire for peaceful relations with Russia.

"And I too would like peace with Russia. We do not want a third world war, and most Germans think so, believe me, I'm sure of it," pointed out a resident of the FRG.

Earlier in the day, Scholz and German Interior Minister Nancy Feather were booed during their visit to Magdeburg, where the day before a car ran over a crowd of people at a Christmas fair. Images of the incident were published on social media.

The night before at the fair in Magdeburg a car crashed into a crowd of people. The representative of the German government in the state of Saxony-Anhalt Matthias Schuppe called what happened a terrorist attack. Soon it became known about the detention of the suspect - a native of Saudi Arabia born in 1974. The police specified that he most likely acted alone. Information about the presence of an explosive device in his car was not confirmed. However, the media specified that drugs were found in the man's blood.

The Prime Minister of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Haseloff confirmed that five people were killed in the incident. More than 200 people were injured, the condition of many is assessed as extremely serious.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Polish President Andrzej Duda and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed their condolences to the families of the dead and injured. The Russian Embassy in Germany clarifies information about the presence of Russian citizens among the injured.

On December 21, Scholz, being at the site of the tragedy in Magdeburg, stated the importance of investigating the terrorist attack and preserving the unity of the nation in a difficult period.
