- Belousov explained the decision to create troops of unmanned systems by their increased role

The role of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is so great that a decision has been made to create a separate branch of troops. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov at the final meeting of the technical council of the ministry and the Popular Front on December 21.
"First of all, they are used in the tactical link to solve reconnaissance, strike and transportation tasks. They are used as means of combat and network information exchange," Belousov explained. His words are quoted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Telegram-channel.
The Defense Minister recalled that the work on the production of drones and electronic warfare (EW) is coordinated by the Technical Council of the "people's defense industry" created in April. Since then, more than 65 types of products have been delivered to the troops.
Civilian manufacturers have also started building up to 40,000 UAVs and FPV drones, as well as up to 5,000 REB and electronic warfare (EW) systems every month, he said. In total, more than 100 thousand products from small design bureaus and civilian companies have been purchased, Belousov pointed out.
Earlier, on December 16, Belousov announced the formation of troops of unmanned systems during a speech at a meeting of the Defense Ministry board. Their creation is planned to be completed in the third quarter of next year.
During the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the need to increase the production of drones. No less important, according to the head of state, is to train UAV operators, to train them under programs developed on the basis of combat experience.
On July 30, Russian Defense Minister said that about 4,000 drones are used daily in the NWO zone.
On July 8, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a strategic session on the national project "Unmanned Aviation Systems" that Russia will increase production of unmanned vehicles more than five times by 2030. On January 11, the Russian president said that Russia needs to be ahead of the curve in the development of UAVs.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken amid the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
