Court arrests ex-deputy education minister Gribov in fraud case


On Saturday, December 21, a court in Moscow sent former Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Denis Gribov, who is accused of multimillion embezzlement of budget funds, to pre-trial detention center. The corresponding information was published on the portal of courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.
He was elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention in accordance with paragraph 1 part. 2 of Art. 29 of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation, Art. 108 of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation.
The former deputy minister is charged under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on a particularly large scale").
Gribov held the post of Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation from March 2020 to August 2024. Before that, he held the positions of Deputy Head of Department of the Financial University and Advisor to the head of Rosobrnadzor.
Earlier in the day it became known that the former Deputy Minister of education detained in one of the capital's airports. According to the investigation, he and his accomplices stole Br54 million from budget funds. Law enforcement agencies also detained three other participants of the crime, they were charged.
