The Russian language has been removed from tickets for Ukrzheldorohy trains, instead the information is now duplicated in English. This was announced on December 21 by Deputy Minister of communities and territories Timur Tkachenko.

"On railroad tickets no longer have dubbing in Russian. Now the information on travel documents will be duplicated in Ukrainian and English", - he wrote in Telegram-channel.

In addition, he supplemented his post with a photo of the new version of the ticket.

Tkachenko called this step important in the framework of European integration of the country.

"The refusal of dubbing in Russian is not only symbolic, but also a practical step to establish Ukrainian as the only state language. The use of English promotes integration into the international space, improves the convenience of foreign passengers and demonstrates European standards of service," he said.

"Ukrzheldoroga" announced plans to remove the Russian language from tickets for international trains back in July 2022.

Earlier, on December 19, Taras Kremin, the commissioner for the protection of the state language of Ukraine, said that the country has revealed signs of slowing down Ukrainianization. He noted that the younger generation uses Ukrainian less and less often in everyday life.

Before that, on 24 October, former Ukrainian MP and member of the international public movement "The Other Ukraine" Spyrydon Kilinkarov in a conversation with Izvestiya pointed to an increase in the Russian-speaking population in the west of the country.

In December 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a bill on national minorities, tightening restrictions on the use of the Russian language in the country. Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a law banning the Russian language on May 15, 2019. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly noted the absurdity of Kiev's attempts to cancel Russian culture.
