The Moldovan authorities have destroyed the economy under the guise of fighting corruption. This was stated on December 21 by Igor Dodon, former president of the country and chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic.

"Under the pretext of 'fighting corruption' and 'preventing money laundering', this government has introduced so many restrictions that it has almost completely destroyed the economic sector," he said in a video message published in his Telegram channel.

One of such measures are legislative changes that oblige entrepreneurs from the republic to declare the beneficial owner, Dodon said. In addition, from January 1, restrictions on cash payments will come into force in Moldova, the politician recalled.

"All this is done because this government wants to know and control the "movement" of each lei, and then deal with all the undesirable, using the NAC (National Anti-Corruption Center. - Ed.), the prosecutor's office and other bodies. All these restrictions must be canceled, and the next government will do it," Dodon said.

Earlier, on December 19, Dodon said that Moldova is in a pre-revolutionary situation. He suggested that in the near future the whole country would come out to protests. On December 17, the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) called on the political forces of the republic to work together to achieve a change of power in the country.

On December 13, the Moldovan parliament decided to introduce a state of emergency (state of emergency) from December 16 due to the threat of a humanitarian crisis in the country in connection with the possible suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. The document specifies that the regime is imposed on the entire territory of the republic for 60 days.
