The Russian Foreign Ministry is outraged by the hypocritical silence of the West after the Ukrainian UAV attacks on Kazan. This is stated in the commentary of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on December 21.

"We are outraged by the demonstrative hypocritical silence of the "collective West" and its mass media, which immediately react to any outing of extremists and even more so terrorist attacks in different parts of the world, but in the case of Russia pretend as if nothing is happening," her commentary published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.

In her message, Zakharova emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked exclusively civilian infrastructure facilities in the capital of Tatarstan. In addition, among the targets was an industrial building, which was not damaged, she noted.

"A total of eight airplane-type drones were fired at the city, of which three were shot down by air defense forces, another three were suppressed by REB systems. The flight of two UAVs to the 37-storey residential building "Azure Skies" was recorded. The building was damaged. Two more residential buildings were damaged, the fire in one of them was localized," - said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to preliminary data, there are no casualties, the amount of damage is being clarified, the commentary said.

Zakharova once again called on the international community to give a tough assessment of the criminal actions of the Kiev regime.

Earlier in the day, Tatarstan introduced a state of emergency for the authorities and special services after the drone attack on Kazan. It was specified that these measures are necessary for the rapid elimination of consequences, the special regime and the regional level of response do not apply to the residents of the Republic.

On December 21, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that six AFU drones were destroyed over the territory of Kazan in the morning of that day. The head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov called the attack an attack on civilians.

A total of eight drones were fired over the territory of Kazan. The press service of the city mayor's office reported that the attack resulted in fire in houses in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts. The arrival of UAVs in the residential complex "Azure Skies" was recorded on video.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
