Government to provide 50% discount on air tickets for children by January 14

By January 14, 2025, the Russian government will provide a discount of 50% of the adult ticket price for air travel for children under 12 years old. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev on December 21.

"There is a presidential decision, so we will ensure such a decision by January 14," he told VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, who published a snippet in his Telegram channel.

Savelyev specified that the discount will be given to all children up to 12 years old. According to him, the situation in which airlines had the opportunity to minimize this discount with special fares will be corrected.

Earlier, December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" demanded from airlines to stop the practice of underestimating benefits for tickets. The head of state pointed out that families with children, including large families, are entitled to a discount of 50% of the airfare, and asked the government to solve the problem by January 14 next year. After that, the Ministry of Transportation informed Izvestia about the beginning of the fulfillment of the President's instruction.
