Tatarstan authorities and Emergencies Ministry have imposed a state of emergency after a UAV attack

Emergency situation mode (ES) for the authorities and units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was introduced in Tatarstan in connection with the attack of unmanned aerial vehicles on Kazan, the corresponding order was signed today by the head of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov. This was reported on December 21 by the head of Minnikhanov's press service Lilia Galimova.

"The status - emergency mode - is necessary in order to work promptly to eliminate the consequences according to the law. That is, this document concerns exclusively those who are now engaged in liquidating the consequences of the UAV attack," she said. Her words are quoted by the agency "Tatar-Inform".

Galimova emphasized that the special regime and the regional level of response do not apply to the residents of the republic.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that six drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were destroyed over the territory of Kazan on the morning of December 21. Minnikhanov called the attack an assault on civilians.

According to the press service of the head of the republic and the mayor's office, the strikes caused fires in houses in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts. Eight drone arrivals were recorded, including six attacks on residential houses. The arrival of UAVs in the residential complex "Azure Skies" was recorded on video.

All mass events were canceled in the city, as well as the reception and dispatch of flights at Kazan airport was temporarily limited, at the moment it is operating in normal mode. Hospitals of the capital of the republic were put on high alert.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
