Ryabkov pointed to Russia's confidence in its armaments

Russia is confident in the strength of its weapons and in their ability to provide security to the state. This statement was made by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov on December 21.
This is how he commented on the proposal of the head of state Vladimir Putin to organize a "high-tech duel of the XXI century" between the air defense (Air Defense) and missile defense (ABM) forces of the United States and the new Russian missile system "Oreshnik".
"The president has said it all. We are confident in the strength of our weapons, in the fact that with their help we will always guarantee our own security," the Russian deputy foreign minister told TASS.
Ryabkov also pointed to the US mistakes in creating "an increasingly echeloned global missile defense system." According to him, the security of the state is not strengthened from this.
"Even based on the most cautious assessments, this is not the most correct expenditure of funds. Maybe the American military-industrial complex benefits from this, but the American people are definitely not on the plus side," Ryabkov added.
Earlier in the day, Irish journalist Chey Bose said that the whole world has begun to realize that the armies of NATO countries are not capable of confronting the "Peanut." He added that the West had long hoped for Russia's technological backwardness, but hopes were not realized.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the reaction of Western countries to Putin's proposal to hold a "technological duel" between the "Oreshnik" and NATO missile defense systems, urged Western leaders to think about it and not be dumbfounded by this statement.
Putin announced the live-fire test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, on Nov. 21. The step was taken in response to the escalation by Western countries in Ukraine. In the following days, the head of state clarified that Russia would continue testing and that a decision on mass production of the missiles had already been made.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
