About 500 people were evacuated from the parliament building in Seoul because of a fire

About 500 people were evacuated from the building of the National Assembly (Parliament) of South Korea in connection with the fire. This was reported by Yonhap agency on December 21.

According to the agency, the fire occurred at 11:52 local time (05:52 Moscow time) in the reception hall. The building houses a press center and a wedding hall, which were occupied by people at the time the fire spread.

"About 480 people, including reporters and wedding guests, were evacuated," the publication said.

Six people needed medical attention because of the smoke, no serious injuries were reported.

Around 13:00 (07:00 Moscow time) the fire was eliminated, at the moment an investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier in the day there was a fire in a resto-club in Lensk in Yakutia. As a result, the wall, ceiling ceiling, stage and music equipment on a total area of 15 square meters were damaged. The fire was caused by failure to observe safety precautions when using firecrackers.
