Russian Armed Forces liberate the village of Ostrovsky in the DNR


As a result of decisive actions, units of the Southern Group of Russian troops have liberated the settlement of Ostrovskyy in the Donetsk people's republic. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 21.
"As a result of decisive actions, the settlement of Ostrovsky in the Donetsk People's Republic has been liberated," the ministry said.
Also, the formations of two mechanized, motorized infantry, assault, mountain assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and two brigades of tera defense in the areas of Zaliznyanskoye, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Chasov Yar, Kurakhovo, Seversk settlements in the DNR, as well as Belogorovka of the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) were defeated.
The enemy lost up to 285 servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, two vehicles, a 122mm D-30 howitzer, a 105mm American M119 howitzer, and five field ammunition depots.
Before that, on December 20, the Russian Armed Forces liberated the settlements of Uspenovka and Novopustynka in the DNR. The ministry said in a statement that Uspenovka was liberated as a result of the actions of units of the South group, while the Center liberated Novopustynka. During the week on the line of contact 59 Ukrainian militants surrendered to captivity.
Earlier, on December 19, it became known about the liberation by the Russian Armed Forces of the settlements of Zelenovka and Novy Komar in the DNR. It is noted that they were liberated by units of the Vostok group.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
