Experts warn of Telegram scams disguised as job offers

Fraudsters have started stealing Telegram accounts by sending false job offers on behalf of well-known companies. This was reported on December 21 by the leading analyst of the Digital Risk Protection department of F.A.S.S.T. company Evgeny Egorov. Evgeny Egorov.
According to him, this scheme, as in most other cases, is aimed at stealing money.
"First, there is a mass mailing of job offers. Contacts can be taken from stolen databases. Those who responded to the job offer create an account on a fraudulent website. After authorization of the victim on this resource she will be given tasks, performing which she will supposedly replenish his internal account," - said the expert in conversation with "RIA Novosti".
To withdraw "earnings" the user will be asked to pay a commission or enter bank card details, Egorov added.
The analyst noted that stories with employment or earnings on the Internet on behalf of a well-known brand are a frequent scenario of fraud.
In addition to stealing money from accounts, attackers can distribute malicious software, attract traffic to phishing resources or collect a database for sale, the expert warned.
Earlier, on December 19, the Coordination Center for .RU/.RF domains told Izvestia that fraudsters' attacks on Telegram users increased 19 times in the run-up to the New Year. In November-December 2024 alone, their number amounted to more than a thousand. Such schemes as fake social payments for holidays or New Year sales are also used to hack accounts.
