Russian Defense Ministry reported the elimination of six AFU drones over Kazan

Air defense and electronic warfare forces eliminated six drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over Kazan during an early morning attack. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, December 21.

"The UAVs were used in three waves from different directions. Three UAVs of the AFU were destroyed by on-duty air defense means, another three UAVs were suppressed by means of REB," the ministry's Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the attack with the use of airplane-type drones took place between 7:40 and 9:20 Moscow time.

At the same time, the mayor's office reported in Telegram-channel about the continuation of the detour. According to local authorities, in the Manhattan housing estate there was a hit in the spire, an element of the building was damaged.

At the same time, there are no casualties, and all communications are in working condition. Resettlement of people was not required, but the evacuees were offered temporary accommodation centers.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of one drone over Tatarstan around 7:50 Moscow time. Later, the mayor's office specified that as a result of the strikes there was a fire in houses in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts. According to the press service of the head of the republic, eight drone arrivals were recorded, six attacks hit residential houses, no casualties were reported.

The arrival of a Ukrainian drone in the residential complex "Azure Skies" on Saturday was recorded on video. In addition, the source of "Izvestia" reported that the drone hit a house in the residential complex "Manhattan". Against the background of these events in the city canceled all mass events, as well as temporarily limited the work of the airport of Kazan.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
