All mass events in Kazan have been temporarily canceled for security purposes after the drone attack. This is reported on Saturday, December 21, in the Telegram-channel of the city mayor's office.

"In order to ensure safety in the next two days (Saturday, Sunday) in Kazan canceled all mass events," - stated in the message.

It is specified that the measure was taken on the decision of the head of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was destroyed over Tatarstan at about 7:50 Moscow time. Later, the mayor's office specified that as a result of the strikes there was a fire in houses in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts. According to the press service of the head of the republic, eight drone arrivals were recorded, six attacks hit residential houses, no casualties were reported.

The arrival of a Ukrainian drone in the residential complex "Azure Skies" on Saturday was recorded on video. In addition, a source of Izvestiya reported that the drone hit a house in the Manhattan residential complex. Against the backdrop of these events, Rosaviatsia imposed temporary restrictions on the operation of Kazan airport.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
