Flight from Sheremetyevo to Egypt delayed for more than a day

Passengers of one of the flights from Moscow to Sharm el-Sheikh have been in the waiting room of Sheremetyevo airport for more than a day due to a delay in departure. Video from the scene on Saturday, December 21, published "Izvestia".

According to the online scoreboard, flight UJ-614 of AlMasria Universal Airlines was scheduled to depart on Friday, December 20, at 5:50 Moscow time. The new departure time is currently scheduled for 6:50 p.m. Saturday.

One of the passengers named Timofey told Izvestia that the probable reason for the delay was the breakdown of the airplane. According to him, people are trying to settle in hotels, and yesterday there were not enough seats for everyone, but there was an opportunity to stay in the business lounge. The man expressed the opinion that there would be no compensation for the delay, because the flight was not canceled, but only postponed.

In the footage from the airport you can see passengers expressing discontent near one of the boarding gate places. Law enforcement officers are on the scene.

"We have been here for almost two days now and we don't know what will happen next," said one of the passengers. She added that the company promised to cancel the flight, but in the end it is just being postponed.

"There will be no compensation because the Egyptian airline does not cancel the flight, but just delays it endlessly, extends it," another passenger complained.

The victims were provided with a business lounge, but the airline representative asks them to leave the lounge unauthorized and collect their luggage.

According to the travelers, if they leave the area, their boarding passes are canceled, and no one guarantees a new registration for the flight. Because of this, they have not been able to go out for more than a day.

Earlier, on December 6, a Sibir (S7) flight to Moscow was delayed in Ulan-Ude due to a plane malfunction. The flight was postponed for seven hours until the arrival of a reserve aircraft.
