- The Arkhangelsk nuclear-powered submarine has completed testing and is being prepared for transfer to the Navy

The newest multipurpose nuclear-powered submarine Arkhangelsk of Project 885M (code Yasen-M) has completed all tests and is being prepared for transfer to the Russian Navy. This was reported on December 21 by Mikhail Budnichenko, head of the Sevmash United Shipbuilding Corporation.
According to him, the test program during the summer navigation of the Arkhangelsk and Knyaz Pozharsky nuclear submarines was fulfilled in accordance with the schedules that were agreed with the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine will be taken out of the boathouse in 2023, this year it has successfully completed all stages of testing, we are preparing the ship for transfer to the Navy," he said in an interview with TASS.
The day before, Russian Navy Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev said that both nuclear submarines will be handed over to the Navy in the near future. At the same time, he specified that the need to have such vessels in the fleet is dictated by the need for effective and modern weapons, which are carried by strategic and multi-purpose nuclear submarines.
On December 8, the American magazine The National Interest (TNI) pointed out that Western countries in vain underestimate submarines of Project 885M ("Yasen-M"), as they are able to cover long distances while remaining completely invisible. They can carry hypersonic Zirkon cruise missiles, which are capable of overcoming any missile defense system and inflicting "almost biblical-level destruction."
