Luiza Istomina, clinical psychologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), told on December 21 how to establish trusting relationships with children.

"The basis of a trusting relationship between parent and child is a secure attachment - a psychological phenomenon that includes such components as a sense of security, acceptance and unconditional love," the expert emphasized in a conversation with "Gazeta.Ru".

According to Istomina, criticism from a parent, inconsistent actions of an adult, emotional and physical punishment have a negative impact on relationships with children.

The psychologist also noted that unconditional love and acceptance is something without which trusting relationships cannot be built. Even if the child has made a mistake, he must feel that the parent will not be too strict. Otherwise, there is a risk that he will start to deceive, fearing punishment.

"Equally important is the sincerity and honesty of the parent himself. In situations where an adult makes a promise and then breaks it himself, the child is not only deeply disappointed, but also experiences such painful emotions as resentment, anger, sadness, which becomes another obstacle to harmonizing the intra-family climate," Istomina added.

Earlier, on November 27, child and family psychologist Svetlana Smirnova told about how to properly refuse a child. According to the expert, any prohibition should be argued regardless of the age of children. Smirnova also noted that moms and dads should always be open to questions from the child, dialog.
