Kursk region governor clarified data on the dead in the strike on Rylsk


The death toll in the shelling of the town of Rylsk in Kursk Region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is five people. This was reported on December 21 by Alexander Khinshtein, the region's acting governor.
"Earlier it was reported about six, no, there are five. Children are not among them, but this, of course, does not cancel the bitterness and pain of the tragedy," he wrote in his Telegram-channel.
Hinshtein also noted that nine victims are in the regional hospital, one of whom is of medium severity. The others have light injuries.
In addition, according to the acting governor, nine objects in the city were damaged, seven of which are social infrastructure.
It became known on December 20 that the city of Rylsk was subjected to a massive rocket attack by the AFU. Initially it was reported about six dead as a result of the strike, among them one child. The governor added that ten victims were taken to the Central District Hospital. They received minor injuries and are under the supervision of doctors. Later Hinshtein specified that among them there is a pregnant woman. He noted that Ukrainian militants deliberately targeted peaceful social facilities.
The Assumption Cathedral of the XVIII century was damaged in the AFU strike on Rylsk. The Russian Investigative Committee (IC) opened a criminal case under paragraph "b" part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist Act").
Images of the aftermath of the shelling were published by Izvestia. They show a crater about 2 meters deep from the explosion of one of the ammunition. The walls of a private house near it collapsed, and the blast wave blew out windows in houses further down the street.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the AFU units that invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
