Vilfand predicted bad weather in four Russian districts

Rain, wind and ice are expected in some regions of Russia's Northwestern, Southern, Volga and Far Eastern federal districts. This was reported by Roman Vilfand, scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, in a conversation with TASS on December 21.
According to him, heavy snow is forecasted in the Northwestern Federal District on December 21 and 22. In particular, bad weather will affect the Murmansk region and the Republic of Karelia, where there will be low temperatures, snow, wind at a speed of 20 m/s, and hence a snowstorm. In addition, in the Arkhangelsk region, "noticeable frost deposits with heavy snow and snowstorms" are expected, the forecaster added.
Heavy snow is forecast in the Perm region over the weekend, while heavy icy conditions are expected in Tatarstan. In Crimea on Saturday and Sunday there will be heavy rain, and in Chukotka there will be windy weather with possible gusts of up to 28 m/s.
In addition, Vilfand said that in the Northwestern and Far Eastern federal districts, negative temperature anomalies are forecast for the next three days, when values will be 4-10 degrees below normal.
"There are two regions where temperatures will be below normal over the weekend and on Monday: this is the Murmansk region, where from December 21-23 the temperature will be 4-8 degrees below normal, the minimum value will be 17 to 23 frost, and in Khabarovsk Krai the temperature will be 6-10 degrees below normal, it will be -39...-35 [degrees] at night," he said.
In the Tyva Republic over the weekend, it is expected to be -32...-28 degrees at night, and during the day it will be about -20, which is 2-4 degrees below normal.
However, Vilfand noted that still very warm weather prevails throughout the Asian territory of Russia, especially noticeable in Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Earlier, December 19, Vilfand warned Muscovites about changeable weather for the rest of the week. He noted that the situation will change very quickly. However, despite such weather changes, the snow cover in Moscow will remain.
On December 18, the weather forecaster said that in the regions of the Northwestern and Central Federal Districts of Russia, abnormally cold weather with frosts up to -30 degrees Celsius is predicted. He added that the temperature in Tver, Moscow and Yaroslavl regions will be 6-9 degrees below the norm.
