"Donbass Dome" intercepted a Ukrainian drone in Donetsk

The Donbass Dome airspace defense and electronic warfare (EW) system intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) aimed at an electrical substation that feeds several urban districts of Donetsk. This was reported on December 21 by the Russian FSSB in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

Explosive technicians with the help of a mobile robotic complex deactivated the mechanism, disarmed a Ukrainian aircraft-type attack drone, which was armed with a shaped-charge, and destroyed the device at a specialized testing ground.

"Thanks to the professional actions of our defenders casualties among civilians and damage to critical infrastructure were not allowed", - stated in the message of the Department.

Earlier, on December 17, the "Dome of Donbass" thwarted a terrorist attack on the shopping center "Galaxy" in Makeyevka in the DNR. The drone of the AFU was armed with an explosive device.

Prior to that, on December 16, Oksana Semesenko, the official representative of the Russian Federal Security Service's directorate for the DNR, said that during the past week, the Donbass Dome system had detected and intercepted 138 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies above Donetsk and Makeyevka.

The Ukrainian armed forces have been shelling the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions on a daily basis amid the special operation to protect Donbas, which Russia announced the start of on February 24, 2022.
