Head of Saxony-Anhalt reports child killed in Magdeburg incident

As a result of a car collision with the crowd at the Christmas fair in the German city of Magdeburg killed at least two people, including a child. This was reported on December 20 by the German newspaper Bild with reference to the Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Erich Haseloff's Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

"The Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Erich Haseloff (CDU) announced that at least two people were killed, including, according to him, a small child," the publication said.

The collision of a car into a crowd in the city of Magdeburg in Germany became known earlier in the day. According to the portal T-Online, the accident killed 11 people, 60 more were injured. The police launched a large-scale operation and used a helicopter for this purpose. The footage shows many ambulances standing with sirens on. The injured are being treated right on the spot.

Also in the regional government of Saxony-Anhalt called the incident a terrorist attack. According to the newspaper Bild, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the head of the Ministry of the Interior (MIA) Nancy Feiser will arrive in Magdeburg on December 21.

At the same time, Scholz expressed his condolences to the families of the victims in Magdeburg. He also thanked the "dedicated rescue workers during these anxious hours."

After that it was reported that the Russian embassy in Germany in close contact with law enforcement agencies in Germany to clarify information about the presence of Russian citizens among the victims.

The newspaper Die Welt reported the arrest of a suspect in a hit-and-run crowd in Magdeburg. It was also reported about an unknown object in the back seat of the car, which, according to experts, may contain an explosive device.
