- The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the feats of the Russian military in the special operation zone

On December 21, the Russian Defense Ministry described the exploits of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).
The ministry noted the actions of Sergeant Alexei Murzin, who as part of a motorized rifle unit carried out a combat mission to hold positions at an important tactical line.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) units, in turn, attempted to attack the Russian troops in order to break through the defense line. During the ensuing battle, Murzin, keeping an eye on the air situation, constantly moved, took advantageous firing positions and attacked the advancing enemy with small arms. The soldier successfully held his position and destroyed four enemy attack aircraft.
While under attack by enemy FPV drones, he also provided first aid to several wounded Russian servicemen and then carried them from the battlefield to safety. Thanks to Murzin's actions, the Russian units managed to hold the defense at an important tactical line and destroyed a significant number of Ukrainian fighters.
The Defense Ministry also drew attention to the merits of Private Vitaly Konovalov, who provided medical assistance to wounded fighters. During the liberation of one of the settlements from Ukrainian militants, being under heavy enemy fire, he provided emergency aid to the attackers right on the battlefield.
Konovalov personally carried seven wounded Russian servicemen out of enemy fire and organized their evacuation to a field hospital. The fighter's actions helped save the lives of the personnel and made it possible to ensure the fulfillment of the combat tasks assigned to his unit.
Earlier, on December 20, it was reported that soldiers of the artillery crew of the 152-millimeter self-propelled gun "Hyacinth-S" of the group of troops "Vostok" destroyed the control point of the AFU drones. The artillerymen received coordinates from Russian Orlan-30 UAVs, after which they aimed the gun and hit the target, which was located in a forest belt and camouflaged, with rapid fire.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
