Putin instructed to think over the development of sports camps to attract young people to the army

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, December 20, instructed the government to consider the development of a network of training military-sports camps to motivate young people to enter military service.

"The Government of the Russian Federation, together with the executive bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, to consider the issue of arrangement and development of a network of sports and recreational and training military-sports camps to promote the formation of motivation among young people to enter military service and the subsequent choice of the profession of a serviceman," the Kremlin said in a statement published on its website.

The Russian leader also instructed the Ministry of Education to create educational tourist routes to places of military glory for the younger generation. They should include hero cities, cities of military glory and cities of labor valor.

In 2024, the "Memory Train" was held for the third time. The project was launched on the initiative of Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko and the head of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalia Kochanova. The route is changed every year to cover as many battlefields as possible and to remember more victories of the Soviet people.

June 21, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Senator Konstantin Kosachev told "Izvestia" that the main novelty of the "Memory Train" in 2024 is a two-fold increase in the number of participants. He emphasized that the history of the Great Patriotic War and memory are a common asset and a common duty.
