The 235th garrison military court extended the arrest of the former head of the Main Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Yury Kuznetsov, who is on trial for taking bribes, until April 11. This was reported by the press service of the court on December 20.
"The court granted the petition of the investigator, extended the period of detention of Kuznetsov until April 11," - stated in the message.
Kuznetsov is accused of receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale in the form of a land plot and a house from a businessman from the Krasnodar region Leva Martirosyan.
Earlier, on October 16, the court arrested 29 accounts in three Russian banks and six real estate properties of Kuznetsov. A land plot in Krasnogorsk, Obushkovo village in Istrinsky district of Moscow region, a house in the latter, land in Krasnodar and a three-storey house of more than 1.1 thousand square meters located on it, as well as an apartment on Yartsevskaya Street in Moscow were arrested.
In May, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Kuznetsov for taking a bribe on a particularly large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, Kuznetsov, while serving as head of the 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, received a bribe from "representatives of commercial structures for the performance of certain actions in their favor." The court arrested him. Martirosyan was also arrested at the same time.
In August, it was reported that Kuznetsov cooperated with the investigation and testified against Martirosyan. In the same month, Basmanny court arrested the apartment of Kuznetsov's daughter with an area of 105.3 square meters and an estimated value of 50 million rubles. The serviceman's place of residence was also searched, during which about 100 million rubles and various luxury items, including gold coins and collector watches, were seized. According to the investigation, Martirosyan handed over a bribe to the general in Krasnodar in the form of a land plot and a residential house worth more than 30.5 million rubles.
