Gam Express ship has given a distress signal in the Kerch Strait

The ship Gam Express gave a distress signal in the Kerch Strait. This was reported by the Southern Transport Prosecutor's Office in Telegram on Friday, December 20.

It is noted that the Novorossiysk Transport Prosecutor's Office on behalf of the Southern Transport Prosecutor Sergei Safinov is monitoring the implementation of legislation in the field of safety of navigation, as well as compliance with the rights of crew members.

On December 15, tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster due to bad weather in the Kerch Strait. As a result, there was a partial spill of oil products. The tankers ran aground.

Thirteen people were evacuated from the first vessel: one of them died. From the tanker "Volgoneft-239" On December 16, all 14 crew members were evacuated. Two criminal cases were initiated over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious because of the death of a sailor.
