The UN commented on the AFU attack on Rylsk in Kursk region

The UN advocated the prevention of any civilian casualties after the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the town of Rylsk in Kursk Region. This was stated by Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General, to Izvestia on December 20.
"We want all sides to make maximum efforts to prevent any civilian casualties in accordance with international humanitarian law," he said.
Earlier in the day, Alexander Khinshtein, the region's acting governor, reported that the town of Rylsk had come under massive rocket fire from the AFU. He noted that Ukrainian fighters deliberately targeted peaceful social facilities.
On the same day, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under para. "b" part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). Later it became known that the impact killed six people, including one child. In the Central District Hospital of the city 10 victims were taken to the Central District Hospital.
Also after the AFU strike on Rylsk, the Assumption Cathedral of the XVIII century was damaged. An employee of the cathedral said that there were no casualties among the people: there was only one woman on the territory of the church, and she was all right. However, the building itself is in need of repair.
