Local cuisine is a trend affecting the entire restaurant industry in 2024. "Burger King" conducted a study, examining the attitude of Russians to the appearance of such positions in restaurants. It is at the disposal of Izvestia on Monday, December 23.
The survey found out that two thirds of Russians (more than 77%) would not mind regularly eating Russian-style dishes in fast food restaurants, if the positions were tasty.
Thus, the majority of Russians associate Russian cuisine primarily with borscht, pelmeni and kvass (64%, 57% and 44%). At the same time, the taste of light sourness and smoky aroma conveys the mood of Russian cuisine for 49% and 13% of respondents. Pickles (43%), rye bread (28%) and sour cream (24%) were chosen as the most Russian foods.
"Russian cuisine is a new trend, which bypasses even Italian and Japanese cuisine in popularity," noted Igor Linichuk, head of Burger King's new product development and implementation department.
The fast food restaurant chain also found out which characters could become the face of Russian fast food. The leaders were three bogatyrs in search of a 24-hour street food outlet (28% of votes), and Baba Yaga frying cutlets in the oven (27%). And 25% of respondents took a bear with a burger in its teeth against the background of a forest as the ideal symbol of national cuisine.
In April, Russian cuisine was among the three most favorite among tourists. This was stated in the study of travel planning service OneTwoTrip, which was familiarized by "Izvestia". Russian cuisine was preferred by 13.5% of respondents.
