The Ministry of Justice included journalist Ivleva and lawyer Polozov in the register of foreign agents

Russian journalist Victoria Ivleva-York and lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who once defended the interests of the Pussy Riot group, have been included in the register of foreign agents according to the decision of the Russian Ministry of Justice. The decision is reported on December 20 on the agency's website.

"V.M. Ivleva-York called for financial support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, opposed a special military operation in Ukraine," the Justice Ministry pointed out.

Polozov participated in the creation and distribution of materials of foreign agents, as well as replicated inaccurate data on the policy of the Russian Federation, aimed "at forming a negative image of the Russian Federation".

Also included in the updated register of foreign agents were the "Laboratory of University Transparency", bloggers Islam Belokiev and Khasan Uzarov, known in the blogosphere under the pseudonym Khasan Khalitov.

Earlier, on December 13, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included artists Anatoly Osmolovsky, Ekaterina Margolis and Igor Ponochevny (Alyosha Stupin) in the list of foreign agents. All three were charged with spreading fakes about the decisions and policies of the Russian authorities and participation in the creation and distribution of foreign agents' content. At the same time, journalist Alexei Gorpinchenko was excluded from the register due to the loss of signs of a foreign agent.

On December 1, 2022, the law regulating the activities of foreign agents came into force in Russia. In case of obtaining this status, a foreign agent, among other things, can no longer receive financial support from the state, participate in government procurement and engage in teaching activities in state institutions. In addition, these persons must inform their employees and the authorities about this status, as well as label the materials they create.
