New Year's Eve is one of the most awaited holidays, especially for children, who look forward to receiving their gifts. However, when choosing them, it is important to make sure that the gift is safe. One of the most dangerous in this regard is a magnetic constructor, warned Olga Tatarkina, a pediatrician at SM-Clinica for Children, in a conversation with Izvestia on December 23.

She noted that despite their seeming harmlessness, such toys can pose a serious threat, especially if a child accidentally swallows their elements.

"One swallowed ball does not cause significant problems, but if the child swallowed several at once, their powerful magnetic attraction can seriously damage internal organs, up to the rupture of tissues or the formation of holes in the stomach or intestines," - explained the doctor.

In her opinion, it is better not to buy such constructors, regardless of the age of the child.

"Toys with propellers, such as flying fairies or helicopters, can also be traumatizing. This is especially true for young children, who can get cuts or bruises, accidentally putting their hands or face under the moving blades. Toy weapons, such as pistols shooting bullets, sharp darts or swords also pose a significant threat to a child," Tatarkina added.

In conclusion, she noted that when choosing a New Year's gift for a child it is important not only to take into account the developmental aspects of toys, but also to pay special attention to their safety.

Earlier, on December 12, it was reported that Russians began to actively buy up New Year's sweets. This follows from the data of trading sites. Such gifts weighing 500-600 g cost this year Russians an average of 791 rubles, follows from the data of the analytical center "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD". The average check for children's holiday sets of sweets has grown this year by 12-13%.
