An expert talks about ways to protect against cyber threats

In 2025, data protection will become an even more important task for both private users and businesses, said Sergei Yevtushenko, deputy director of DIS Group's consulting division. He told Izvestia on December 21 what to do to avoid facing hacking and cyberattacks.
"With the increase in the volume of data, as well as the growth of cyber threats, more and more people are realizing the need for advanced protection methods. First of all, individual users should use multi-factor authentication to access their accounts. This method significantly complicates the task of attackers, because it requires not only entering a password, but also additionally confirming the entry by means of a message that comes to a mobile device or e-mail," the expert explained.
In his opinion, the key step for businesses to protect data is to implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy, which includes regular software updates, implementation of encryption technologies and comprehensive risk assessment. He also recommended training for employees to help them recognize phishing and other social engineering techniques used by criminals to steal data.
"In addition, the issue of data protection in the cloud is particularly relevant. Organizations should carefully select cloud service providers, making sure they meet international security standards and have regular audits in place. It is also necessary to implement data backup solutions so that in the event of a system leak or attack, information can be quickly restored. This is an important element not only for protection, but also for ensuring business continuity," Yevtushenko said.
According to him, it is important to keep in mind that data protection is not a one-time task, but an ongoing process. Many companies and users underestimate the importance of regularly monitoring and analyzing their security systems.
"The use of modern analytical tools and solutions based on artificial intelligence can help identify potential threats in advance. Thus, only a comprehensive and proactive approach will allow to effectively protect data in an ever-changing cyberspace in 2025," the expert concluded.
Earlier, on December 6, it was reported that Russia is in second place in the number of cyberattacks targeting it, with the United States in first place. This follows from the data of the Solar 4RAYS Cyber Threat Research Center of the Solar Group. Also among the most attacked countries are Canada, Switzerland, and Singapore.
