Expert gave tips on protecting your home during New Year holidays

New Year holidays are a period of happiness, warmth and fabulous moments. Some choose to celebrate these days in the family circle at home, while others prefer to travel to start the New Year with rich emotions. Either way, to avoid unexpected problems during the celebration, it is necessary to take care of safety measures in advance. Nikita Tyrin, Project Director of SberStrakhovanie Nikita Tyrin told Izvestia on December 22 how to protect your home during the New Year holidays.
"Garlands and light decorations create a festive mood, but their improper use can have serious consequences. Since these are electrical devices, it is important to take into account the load on the network to avoid short circuits, as well as to monitor the quality of products - use only serviceable garlands with reliable insulation and certification," Tyrin noted.
According to him, if it is planned to celebrate the holidays outside the house, it is necessary to take care of the safety of your home in advance: disconnect household appliances and electronics from the network to reduce the likelihood of short circuits. You should also make sure that all faucets are closed to avoid leaks. For added protection, you can install moisture sensors under sinks and in bathrooms. These devices can be connected to Wi-Fi and they send notifications to your smartphone when a water leak is detected, allowing you to react quickly and prevent damage.
Additionally, when the home is left empty, theft protection becomes a priority. Both sophisticated systems, such as video intercoms with built-in recording or CCTV, and simpler options, such as accessible door sensors that can be installed and activated for periods of absence, can be used to enhance security, the expert said.
Earlier, on November 30, construction expert, founder and CEO of "GLASNAB" Fedor Vasiliev told "Izvestia" about how to choose the right electric garland. According to him, it is important to pay attention to the type of bulbs. Thus, classic incandescent bulbs create a warm, cozy light, but they consume a lot of energy and burn out quickly.
