Bulgaria opposes signing security agreement with Ukraine


Former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said that he is against signing a bilateral agreement on security cooperation with Ukraine. This was reported on December 19 by the news agency Novinite.
"The leader of the GERB party Boyko Borisov said that he does not support the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of security between Bulgaria and Ukraine", - stated in the material.
According to him, the political situation changed when Donald Trump won the presidential election in the United States, which is discussing with the European Union a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, in January this year, it became known that Ukraine is developing security treaties with the United States and a number of other countries. It is reported that the document is to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as gradual integration into the NATO coordinate system through these security treaties.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the background of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, the launch of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
