CMTPL insurance payout limits may be increased in 2025

In 2025, Russia may revise the limits of CMTPL insurance payouts. Evgeny Ufimtsev, the head of the Russian Union of Insurers (RUI), said this when answering a question from a Izvestia correspondent.

According to Ufimtsev, it makes sense to raise the limits only if the insurance premium does not fluctuate due to the rise in prices for spare parts. If the current indicators remain at this level, then in the second half of 2025 it will be possible to consider changing the limits, he said. In this case, the first step should be an increase in the limits of payments for harm to life and health, specified the head of RAMI.

"In public transport and cabs, the limit is 2 million rubles, and for CMTPL insurance - still 500 thousand rubles. It is necessary to increase, it is one of the most important parts of CMTPL insurance. I doubt that the first stage will include an increase in the limit for property damage. Either the situation on fines for the lack of a policy should be revised very strongly, then it will be possible to raise these limits," said Ufimtsev to the correspondent of "Izvestia.
