The choice of festive dishes for the New Year's table should be taken seriously, says Sofya Eliashevich, head of the laboratory for the study and correction of eating behavior at the National Medical Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health. She named the top-5 most harmful New Year's products to Izvestia on December 21.

In her opinion, alcohol is on the first place of the anti-rating. The expert noted that there is no safe dose of such a drink. At the same time, the use of alcoholic beverages increases the feeling of hunger, provoking episodes of overeating, in addition to the fact that alcohol itself is a high-energy product.

On the second line - confectionery products with added sugars: muffins, cookies, crackers, breakfast cereals, sweet carbonated drinks, cakes. On the third - industrially processed meats: sausages, wieners, wieners, sausages, deli meats.

"For the sake of saving time, we give preference to products prepared in production, thereby impoverishing their diet with vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, which are one of the most important ways to protect the body from the accumulation of excess body weight, the development of heart disease, gastrointestinal tract and cancer. Choose products with a minimum degree of processing, and maybe on weekends you will have the opportunity to spend time with loved ones and make dinner with your own hands," - said Eliashevich.

The fourth place in terms of harmfulness is occupied by products containing excessive amounts of salt. The expert specified that uncontrolled salt consumption leads to high blood pressure, edema, loss of calcium, additional load on the kidneys. According to her, with maximum caution should be included in the diet pickles, as well as salted breadcrumbs, chips and salted fish.

"The amount of salt should not exceed the daily intake of 5 g. Remember that from one sandwich with red caviar will not become "bad", but eating salty spoonfuls is a risk factor for exacerbations of cholelithiasis, pancreatitis and other adversities," she explained.

In addition, mayonnaise sauces are not useful. The basis of industrial mayonnaise, among others, are vegetable deodorized oil, egg yolk, sweeteners, thickeners, stabilizers, emulsifiers, preservatives. As a result, this complex composition of salads is an additional load for the work of all enzyme systems and digestive organs, and induces inflammatory reactions, the expert specified. As an alternative to mayonnaise, she suggested considering Greek yogurt of 2-4% fat content, as well as homemade sauces from vegetable unrefined oils, mustard, lemon juice and wine vinegar.

"In nutritional management, as in many other areas of life, balance is important. Remember that you can eat your favorite foods on absolutely any day, not just holidays. And adding to the diet no more than 15% of the daily requirement of foods high in trans fats, sugar and salt will avoid uncontrolled consumption, overeating and easily return to a balanced diet after the holidays," - concluded Eliashevich.

Earlier, December 16, it was reported that the minimum New Year's set for two people, which includes a bottle of champagne, 1 kg of tangerines, 200 g of red caviar, a box of chocolates and cake, will cost Russians about 7 thousand rubles. This follows from the results of a study of experts of the wallet YuMoneu and analytical resource "Check Index" of the company "Platform OFD". At the same time, the average check for a dinner in a restaurant for one person will amount to Br3078.
