Court arrests assistant driver of freight train after accident near Murmansk


The court has arrested the assistant driver of the freight train, involved in an accident in the Murmansk region. This is reported on December 20 by the North-West Transport Prosecutor's Office.
"Taking into account the position of the transport Prosecutor Kandalaksha district court of the Murmansk region has taken into custody the assistant driver of the freight train Ramil Sadygov", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
In the Western Interregional Investigative Committee (IC) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation on transport added that the driver of the freight train was also arrested.
The men are charged under part 3 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of railway transport, causing the death of two or more persons by negligence").
Thecollision of two trains occurred on December 18 at the arrival of a passenger train at the station Knyazhaya. The passenger train, traveling on the route Murmansk - St. Petersburg, collided with a freight train. As a result of the collision, three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars derailed. According to the latest data, the accident killed two people.
A criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was initiated on the fact of the accident. According to preliminary data, the collision of the trains occurred due to spontaneous movement of a defective freight train.
Assistant Minister of Health Alexei Kuznetsov reported on December 20 that only 42 people were injured in the collision of passenger and freight trains in Murmansk region. 20 people remain in hospitals.
