Members of the US Democratic Party believe that American billionaire Ilon Musk is a shadow president and US leader-elect Donald Trump is his vice president. This was reported by the newspaper HuffPost on December 19.

The piece said that the idea of Musk's supremacy over Trump appeared on December 18, after the entrepreneur discussed a bill to fund the government and Trump remained silent.

"It's clear who's in charge, and it's not President-elect Donald Trump. Shadow President Ilon Musk spent all day berating Republicans, got the bill repealed and only then did Trump follow suit," said House of Representatives member Pramila Jayapal.

The publication notes that the Democratic Party is trying to unseat Trump and Musk, who together invested heavily in supporting Trump in the election. Internal tensions within the Trump team have been exacerbated by Musk's frequent visits to Mar-a-Lago.

Earlier, on December 18, Musk said on his social media page X (formerly Twitter) that the US temporary budget bill was a crime. It was specified that the congressional leadership agreed on a draft of the temporary budget of the United States until March - the document is designed to prevent the termination of funding for the government.

Before that, on December 15, Musk said that if Washington fails to reduce the budget deficit, the United States expects big trouble.

On November 13, Trump appointed Musk as head of the new Department of Government Efficiency of the United States (DOGE). It was specified that the department will have to directly participate in the reorganization of the U.S. government.
