Repeated contamination of the coastline with fuel oil was found in the Temryuksky district of Krasnodar Krai after a partial fuel spill due to the crash of two tankers, the length of the polluted strip is 4 km. This was reported on December 20 in the operative headquarters of the region.

"Repeated contamination of the coastal strip was found on a stretch of about 4 km in the Temryuksky district in the village of Veselovka near Lake Solenoye. Also centers of fuel oil release were detected in the area of the reserve "Bolshoi Utrish" Anapa", - stated in the message of the headquarters in its Telegram-channel.

It added that 70 km of the coast of Anapa and Temryuksky district are in the zone of constant monitoring. Monitoring groups immediately report detected pollution to organize their cleaning.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that 3303 tons of sand and soil contaminated with fuel oil were removed from the beaches of the Krasnodar region. Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster on December 15 in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. As a result, there was a partial spill of oil products. The tankers ran aground.

13 people were evacuated from the first vessel: one of them died, 11 were injured. All 14 crew members were evacuated from the tanker Volgoneft-239 on Monday. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious because of the death of a sailor.

Governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev said that after the oil spill in four settlements of the Kuban introduced a state of high alert. Later, on December 17, he specified that after the accident with two tankers fuel oil was carried ashore for dozens of kilometers, two municipalities of the region introduced a state of emergency. Specialists have determined the algorithm of cleaning works.
