Russians' spending on computers and software has jumped sharply. This is stated in the study of the Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-Term Forecasting (CMACP) based on the data of Sberindex. "Izvestia" got acquainted with the experts' data on December 20.

From December 8 to December 15, 2024, citizens' spending on computers and software increased by 62.2% compared to the same period last year. Such an increase was the largest among all groups of non-food products.

As explained in the CMACP, this is due to the fear of subsequent price increases due to the weakening of the ruble. Experts also noted that the previously noted stabilization in terms of consumer behavior of the population remains.

Earlier, on November 28, Kamil Khuzhiakhmetov, founder of the Russian laptop brand Echips, told Izvestia that Russian laptops will rise in price by 20% in 2025. He attributed the possible increase in their cost to the rise in income tax, high key rate, and complex netting schemes with Chinese partners.
