In Lipetsk, a giant tumor was removed from an 80-year-old woman at the Svobodny Sokol City Hospital No. 3. Doctors saved the patient's life, regional health minister Anna Markova told social media.

GOROD48 specifies that the pensioner arrived at the hospital by ambulance. She complained of abdominal pain and general weakness. Doctors diagnosed her with a tumor and performed emergency surgery.

The operation lasted for two hours. It was performed by Mikhail Novikov, head of the hospital's gynecology department. For three days the woman was in intensive care. Two weeks later, she was discharged home.

December 20, it was reported that Russian scientists have developed a neural network to detect cancer cells in samples of lung tissue in adenocarcinoma. According to doctors, if the tumor sprouts into the blood vessels, from there it can spread further, to form metastases. Therefore, it is important to identify areas of invasion before tumor cells enter the bloodstream.
